Emily Schindler Lecture – Here But Not Here, Not Here But Here: Understanding and Managing Ambiguous Losses

May 1, 2019 @ 9:00 am - 12:15 pm

About the Lecture

Ambiguous losses are perhaps the most challenging kind of loss. When a person is physically absent yet psychologically present, or physically present yet psychologically absent, loved ones cannot get clarity about the loss. Family processes become complicated, and grief may become frozen. Understanding the effects of this ambiguity can help us better support families and caregivers in maintaining hope and resilience. In this workshop, we’ll explore research-based guidelines for working with families experiencing ambiguous loss.
