Hospice of the Chesapeake has completed the 2,800 sq. ft. addition to the Creston G. Tate and Betty Jane Tate Foundation Chesapeake Hospice House. This addition includes two additional patient rooms (bringing the total patient rooms to eight), a chapel/meditation room, a library, a staff office, a great room, and additional laundry and restroom facilities.

After 11 years of providing a home for terminally ill patients and their families in our community, the hospice house needs to be restocked with new linens, pillows, kitchen utensils, dishes, and other household items. We have established a gift registry with Bed, Bath and Beyond. Please visit www.bedbathandbeyond.com and go to "Shop." Enter the first name "Hospice" and the last name "Chesapeake" in the Bridal & Gift Registry section. (You may also enter the registry number 2970685.)

Residents at our hospice house enjoy the same level of freedom and comfort they would experience in their own homes and visits by families and friends are encouraged and welcomed. Hospice services include:
Medical and nursing care, available 24-hours a day
Social work services
Certified nursing assistants
Medical equipment, supplies and medication
Spiritual support and counseling
Volunteer services


Scheduled meals are included and prepared for patients, however meals may also be prepared at each
patient's request and family members are also invited to bring special dishes from home.


Patients and family members will feel the warmth and peaceful respite the house provides with:
Spacious sitting areas
Beautifully landscaped surroundings
Charming meditation garden and fountain


Our staff ensures comfort for all patients and makes sure that patients receive prompt, personal care. Laundry and cleaning services are also provided to patients.


To ensure maximum comfort, the six private bedrooms include:
Private bathroom
Television
Telephone
Soft chairs or sofas for visiting family members
Radio and CD players

Families are encouraged to help residents personalize their rooms with photos, and mementos that evoke pleasant memories. Loved ones who may wish to stay overnight may do so.
