Learning Objectives

• Participants will be able to distinguish the different presentations of anxiety disorders so that treatment can be effectively tailored to the individual.
• Participants will be able to present relevant psychoeducational information to instill hope, insight and motivation and to reduce anxious bewilderment.
• Participants will be able to identify subtle ways in which symptoms are maintained and exacerbated, such as paradoxical effort, metacognitive mistakes, avoidance and safety behaviors.
• Participants will be introduced to a new conceptualization of Generalized Anxiety Disorder as a close relative of OCD.
