Hospice of the Chesapeake
Dr. Marny Fetzer joined Hospice of the Chesapeake in July 2023 and currently serves as Chief Medical Officer.
Dr. Fetzer previously served as the System Medical Director for Palliative Care and Hospice Services at Ascension Health in Mount Prospect, Illinois, and has been in the palliative and hospice care field since 2012. Dr. Fetzer is certified in hospice and palliative medicine and as a hospice medical director and physician executive. She completed her hospice and palliative care fellowship at Northwestern Memorial and has over the last 20 years, presented, and published extensively on supportive care — also known as palliative care, hospice care, end of life and acute and post-acute care. Coupled with her hospice and palliative medicine background, Dr. Fetzer has an additional ten years of experience in emergency medicine which makes her uniquely positioned to support the full continuum of care in the Maryland healthcare system.
As Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Fetzer provides strategic and leadership direction to the medical team which includes physicians and nurse practitioners. As a member of the Hospice of the Chesapeake executive leadership team, she will also share in the responsibility of implementing strategic goals and effecting cultural change within the full Hospice of the Chesapeake organization.
Dr. Fetzer earned her bachelor’s degree in communications from Loyola University Chicago and her medical degree from Loyola University Medical Center’s Stritch School of Medicine. She is currently pursuing a Master of Business Administration from University of Massachusetts Amherst.
